Upgrade the Mac Mini Server’s memory

When your memory upgrade arrives, follow these steps to upgrade the memory in your Mac Mini Server:

  1. Unpack the Mac Mini Server and put it upside down on a soft towel on a table or your desk.
  2. Record the serial number (it’s beneath the bottom cover). This is important; you’ll need it later to be able to login.
  3. Remove the bottom cover by turning it counterclockwise to the unlocked position.
    • No more putty knives and shot glases. Yay Apple.
  4. Press on the upper side of the bottom cover. The lower side of the cover will pop up. Remove the bottom cover. The memory modules are in the middle left area of the Mac Mini Server.
  5. Spread the retainer clips at the ends of the top memory module. The end of the memory module will pop up.
  6. Carefully pull the memory module out of the slot.
  7. Repeat steps 5-6 for the bottom memory module.
  8. Install one of the new memory modules in the bottom slot by matching the notched edge of the memory module to the slot and carefully pressing it into the slot while keeping the opposite edge slightly raised.
  9. Repeat step 8 for the top memory module.
  10. Replace the Mac Mini Server’s bottom cover by using the alignment dots to place the cover in the unlocked position. Turn the cover clockwise to the locked position.
