You can obtain the freeware version of PGP software directly from Network Associates, Inc.‘s Web site. As of this writing (early July 1998), the current version is 5.5.5.
Important Note: Versions of the PGP software are available for Macintosh, UNIX, and MS-Windows operating systems. This section assumes you know how to use a Web browser and manage files you’ve downloaded from the Internet.
Use these instructions to download the PGP software.
- Launch your favorite Web browser.
- Navigate to the following URL:http://www.pgp.com:8001/freeware/
- The PGP freeware download page should be displayed. If not, try to navigate to the appropriate page from the Network Associates, Inc. home page www.nai.com
- Click on the link associated with the software for your operating system. The software will be downloaded to your local hard disk drive. You may need to decode and decompress it.
- Locate the downloaded file and decode and decompress it if necessary.
