I have a recurring dream about a dialysis machine that is small enough to tote around and that performs dialysis by sticking my finger into a socket.
It would appear that National Quality Care, Inc. is well on the way to creating such a device that is worn as a belt and provides continuous dialysis. Company representatives will presented new data from animal studies of its “wearable artificial kidney” last Friday at the American Society of Nephrology annual meeting in Philadelphia.
National Quality Care, Inc. recently received a patent on the device.
The company doesn’t appear to have a website, but here’s the press release.
