The flip side of the comment question

Jason Kottke has published the best argument against opening comments on a website, based on his experience opening up comments on all articles for a little more than a week. Kottke had to check for activity every 15-30 minutes throughout the day and claims that at one point he was spending half his day “comment gardening.” For a one-man show like Kottke.org, this proved to be untenable, mostly because the tools don’t work well enough yet.
