In the great Sunday upgrade, the RSS 1.0/RDF 1.0 feed seems to have fallen through the cracks. It’s especially puzzling because the RSS 2.0 feed is working just fine and I’ve got them both configured properly and with the appropriate permissions. The server just can’t seem to find the index.rdf file that lives right next to the index.xml file. They’re both getting updated correctly, but the index.rdf file refuses to be served.
What’s really weird is that a default 404 error page gets thrown, not the custom one.
Of course, none of this will do you any good if you read the site manually, and even less good if you subscribe to the RSS 1.0 feed, since you’ll never get this notice. Come to think of it, even if you subscribe to the RSS 2.0 feed this will be pretty useless because the RSS 2.0 feed is working fine.
This has just been one of those days (sigh)....
[Update: checking to see if updating the entry will kick it loose]
[Update: 13 Dec 2003—checking to see if it’s the filename extension that’s causing the problem; that was it (resolved by changing the filename to index-rdf.xml the full URL for the RSS/RDF 1.0 feed has been updated to: http://www.farces.com/index-rdf.xml)]
[Update: 7 Mar 2004—with the migration to ExpressionEngine, the RSS/RDF 1.0 feed is available at http://www.farces.com/index.php/hasten/rss_1.0/]
