Ordinarily I’d ignore a story asserting that the U.S. Attorney General, John Ashcroft, believes that calico cats are signs of the devil. Except this story was published by financial maven Andrew Tobias who writes that an incident concerning calico cats occurred at the U.S. embassy in the Hague shortly before Ashcroft was appointed Attorney General.
Aside from the calico cat aversion, Tobias also points out that Ashcroft’s advance team requested that a statue of a naked woman be covered.
All of this is mere background for the meat of the Tobias piece about how Ashcroft has focused his attention on overturning legislation passed (in some cases repeatedly) by U.S. state governments.
