Ever wonder how Rageboy got his name? Well, Jerry Michalski hosted a retreat for technology industry heavy thinkers in June of 1996. The retreat was structured along the lines of a Quaker meeting where no one speaks unless the silence can be improved upon. Chris Locke got up on the last day of the event and started to rant. And rant…. He was at IBM at the time, trying desperately to clue them into the ‘net and was venting his pent up frustration. Midway through the spectacle, Esther Dyson shouts, “Go rageboy, go.”
Locke has published a guest piece by Steve Larsen (I wish he’d publish this kind of stuff on the web instead of the EGR mailing list) that recalls his experience of the event.
