Whoah, Pud (Phil Kaplan) makes US$70,000 per month on fuckedcompany.com. And stole everything on it—the logo came from Fast Company magazine and the initial content came from

CNet. Pud settled on US$75 subscription fee because it was high enough to generate a perceived value for business users and because it was the amount of his cable television bill at the time.

Kaplan’s advice for a sustainable business model is to “find the garbage sitting around in your database; I guarantee there are subscribers for it. Keep your garbage. Sell your garbage.”

Pud maintains that websites have to start looking at websites as computer programs, not media.

If you’re a programmer, the applications you find useful will probably appeal to customers. An example is a small program that allows people to buy banner ads with their credit cards.

Junglescan monitors the sales ranking of anything amazon.com sells and returns US$500 per week for Pud through

amazon.com’s associates program.
