Ev is talking about the history of weblogging and how his Blogger software came about. This is also the first article I’m going to try to write within pMachine itself.

Evan Williams addresses Gnomedex on weblogging
I really don’t like these browser-based editors. Microsoft is probably going to own this market segment, just like all the others, just as soon as it can figure out how to add a “publish” button to Microsoft Word. All of these browser-based editors are clumsy and it’s just way too easy to lose what you’re writing. I want to write and edit in a writing environment, not a browser.
Blogger has 750,000 registered users, of which between 20% - 30% are active users, and the service is growing at the rate of 1,800 - 2,000 new users each day. Usage has doubled in the last six months. Evan doesn’t release sales numbers for Blogger Pro, but it produces enough revenue to support seven employees.
