The Electronic Privacy Information Center (EPIC) is charging that Microsoft’s Passport and related services including .Net deceptively gather customers’ personal information for potential sale. In a letter to the U.S. state attorneys general, the privacy advocacy organization urges immediate action to prevent Microsoft from continuing to improperly collect this personal information.
Citing failures of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) to investigate the matter at a national level, EPIC is prodding investigation and appropriate action at the individual state levels.
