Michael Moore‘s latest film, Bowling for Columbine, opens tomorrow in New York and Los Angeles. Asking the timeless question, “are we a nation of gun nuts, or just plain nuts?” Bowling for Columbine won the Cannes Film Festival‘s 55th Jury Anniversary Prize.

There’s something—actually everything—very surreal about listening to the Senate debate starting a war in Iraq while watching these Bowling for Columbine clips.

Please, if you live in New York or Los Angeles, go see this film this weekend. Because of the weird way the mainstream film distribution business works in this country (even independent films have to have a mainstream big biz distributor behind them), if you don’t go see it, the rest of us won’t have the opportunity. “That is the nutty way our films are released,” says Moore. “If it doesn’t have a big opening weekend, you can kiss the film good-bye.”
