Dave Berger has become the first Green party candidate in Minnesota history to qualify for public campaign financing. Berger, a community college sociology and criminal justice professor, is the Green Party of Minnesota‘s endorsed candidate for State Auditor.
To qualify for the public campaign financing, Berger’s campaign had to raise at least US$6,000 in US$50 contributions or less from at least 120 contributors and win the primary election (Berger is running unopposed in the primary). By qualifying Berger’s campaign is entitled to US$27,235 in state funding.
The core of Berger’s campaign is built around his proposed “Green audit” that strives to take into account the true costs of doing business associated with government procurement of goods and services.
